Hawai‘i DMV Now is a self-service DMV kiosk that offers a fast and easy way to renew your vehicle registration.

You don't need to take a number or sit and wait; the average transaction takes less than two minutes. After a successful renewal, a new registration document and emblem prints immediately.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Kiosks accept credit or debit card payments
  • Your vehicle must be registered in the same county that the kiosk is located in.
  • You must have received a renewal notice and are renewing between 45 days prior and 10 months after the expiration date.
  • Your vehicle cannot be classified as a heavy vehicle.
  • Your renewal notice must show your current mailing address.
  • Your renewal cannot show an expired vehicle inspection.
  • Your renewal notice cannot show outstanding traffic violations.
  • Your renewal notice cannot show requirements to submit additional forms listed in the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS.

WHEN CAN I RENEW?

Renewal notices are mailed out 45 days before the expiration date. Once you've received your notice, you can renew at a kiosk any time up to 10 months after your expiration date (late fees will apply).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Along with the cost of renewal, the following fees apply depending on where the kiosk is located:

  • City and County of Honolulu: $4 per renewed vehicle + 2.5% credit card fee
  • Hawai‘i County: No fee per renewed vehicle + 2.5% credit card fee
  • Kauai County: $4 per renewed vehicle + 2.5% credit card fee
  • Maui County: No fee per renewed vehicle + 2.3% credit card fee at DMV locations or 2.5% fee at non-DMV locations
